Design – Heat Load Calculations

Proper Installs start with the Design

Proper Installs start with the Design

Every good heat pump or mini split installation starts before any equipment gets ordered — with a heat load calculation. This is the process of figuring out exactly how much heating and cooling your home actually needs, room by room, based on your insulation, windows, square footage, and how cold it actually gets here. Skip this step and you’re just guessing.

We perform a full heat load calculation on every project, whether it’s a single-zone mini split or a whole-home system. It’s the difference between equipment that’s sized to your house and equipment that’s sized to a rule of thumb.

WHY IT MATTERS

Guesswork is how systems fail.

  • Tuned For your home's real numbers, not a rule of thumb.
  • Room by room Every space calculated on its own, not estimated by total square footage.
  • Fewer callbacks Properly sized systems run efficiently and avoid short-cycling.
  • 1 right size Not oversized, not undersized — built around your actual load.
A system that's too big short-cycles, struggles with humidity, and wears out faster. A system that's too small can't keep up on the coldest night of the year. Kyle and the Seacoast Heat Pumps team calculate the real heating and cooling load for your home before recommending equipment — not after — so the system you get is sized for your house, not a generic estimate.
WHAT HOMEOWNERS SAY

Warm homes. Happy homeowners.

The day I called to inquire about an installation, Kyle showed up within hours! (Other HVACs had weeks long waiting lists for preliminary review.) In less than 10 days my unit was installed. Kyle and Jeff were polite and did a great job. I feel like I made two new friends during the process. It could not have been any easier. I’m looking forward to a warm winter and central A/C next summer.

A local architect recommended Seacoast Heat Pumps to plan out heat pump needs for our 30 year old house. Kyle came within days and presented several solutions to cool and heat our open concept layout. Within three weeks the two heat pumps were installed and functioning, as designed. Kyle was not only professional and responsive, but also approached the project with care to incorporate the interior & exterior units with the overall design and aesthetics of our house. I highly recommend Seacoast Heat Pumps!

Kyle is a great guy, extremely knowledgeable, interested and interesting. He came over on pretty short notice to maintain a mini-split system in a garage apartment I have. Really appreciate the responsiveness and professionalism!
